While both VisitorTap and DIY NFC tags (ie. from Amazon) allow people to tap their phone to open a webpage, that's where the similarities end. 

DIY NFC tags present a tradeoff. If they remain unlocked, anyone with an NFC writing app can reprogram your tags with malicious links -  potentially directing people to fake giving pages, phishing forms, or malware sites.  If you lock the tag for security, it becomes permanently tied to a single URL—meaning you lose the flexibility to instantly update links. At that point, it’s no different than a QR code that always points to the same destination.

VisitorTap gives you the best of both worlds. Every Tap product is securely locked and managed through your VisitorReach Dashboard, allowing you to instantly change links without touching the physical tag. Tap cards can be attached to the back of chairs and pews, signage, or any non-metal surface. We recommend placing them in your Guest Connect area, Kids Check-In, lobby, membership classes, or as a follow-up to outreach events (such as an Easter egg hunt, Christmas toy drive, etc.).

For sanctuaries, we recommend placing a Tap Card on every chair or pew. This gives every guest easy access without having to reach across someone else. It also allows you to avoid worrying about placement if your chairs are ever re-organized.

Tap technology (NFC) outperforms QR codes for every measurement of engagement (from giving to sign-ups) due to its ease of use, speed, and security. Tap technology offers a "tap and go" experience, requiring no special apps or camera alignment, making it more intuitive and convenient than scanning a QR code. Tap cards are also more flexible as you can change links in the VisitorReach dashboard without having to print new QR codes every time a link changes. You can also change the links in real-time or schedule them ahead of time based on who is in the room. For example, one link for Sunday services and a different link for your Men’s event or Pastors Conference.

Any IOS or Android phones with NFC chips (phones after the year 2018) are compatible with VisitorTap. Some android phones will require the NFC chip to be manually activated, but this is less common.  NFC chips are typically located at the top-back of an iPhone and in the middle-back of an android phone.

You can direct people wherever best supports their next step with your church. This might be a single action, such as visiting your church website, filling out a digital guest connect card, or accessing your online giving app.

Plus, you can create multiple Taptrees for different occasions;  for example, one for Sunday services, another for midweek youth gatherings and other for special gatherings like conferences and women’s events.  This way, you’re always guiding people to the next right step, no matter when or where they connect.

The VisitorReach Dashboard only works with VisitorReach tapcards. Tap cards provided by other companies are locked to those companies and can not be converted to other companies. Locked cards are important to prevent attempts to hack the cards.

NFC stands for Near Field Communication, which operates on a short-range, radio-frequency communication, that enables devices to communicate with each other when they are in close proximity, typically within an inch or two. The transfer of information is not dependent on a live server, cell phone service, or wifi to function.

We recommend that a person uses a phone to confirm cards are connected to the VisitorReach Dashboard as soon as they arrive. Once that is confirmed, the card/sticker would only malfunction if it was tampered with or damaged in some way. Then, you would simply replace the card. We recommend purchasing extra cards because accidents happen. If a card were ever physically damaged or lost—just like a QR code—it’s a simple replacement. No different than replacing a business card or a damaged sign. Most often a card not working is due to user error - the link was entered incorrectly in the dashboard, the user tapped the card too quickly, or does not have the NFC setting activated on their phone.

No! Your church can connect to any giving platform you prefer. If you ever decide to switch, just update the giving link in your Taptree and you’re all set.

Churches can choose to customize the card or the vinyl sticker. Custom orders require a minimum order of 500 and then any additional cards must be bought in 100 unit increments.
